Mortal Kombat: Onslaught players, it’s time to get excited! Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios will be releasing a new update for Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, the new team-based collection role-playing game (RPG), on Dec. 5, including the addition of 5-Star Fighters, the next Story chapter, Khronicle Events, and more.

Starting Dec. 7, MK1 Shang Tsung will be the first of the new 5-Star Fighters to be available as part of this Mortal Kombat: Onslaught update. As a Ranged Support character, MK1 Shang Tsung can toss flaming skulls at his opponent from a distance, conjure putrid venom with his Special Ability, and bring new team synergies with MK1 Scorpion.

From Dec. 7-21, fans can battle through the limited-time Khronicle Event: Pursuit, where Shang Tsung is on a mission to save his soul. Players can experiment with MK1 Shang Tsung as a teammate while battling through story-based encounters and uncovering more of the game’s lore before adding him to their roster. Khronicle Events will now occur every two weeks, with the next event – and the next 5-Star Fighter – set to debut on Dec. 21.

Players will also be able to enjoy a brand-new Story chapter, where they can team up with Jade as she seeks to save Princess Kitana. This 3-Star Melee Assassin can teleport to her enemies and land targeted attacks with her iconic staff. Jade will automatically become a permanent Fighter in players’ arsenals when they begin Chapter 5.

In our coverage, we wrote,  “While the gameplay varies greatly from the classic brutal fighting the core series is known for, much of what fans love about the franchise is here, along with some new elements that may appeal to players who are not long-time fans.”

The Mortal Kombat: Onslaught update will also introduce 50 Chasm battles, sign-in gifts, and a new Relic to collect, offering powerful effects.
