In anticipation of its upcoming Winter 2024 season, HIDIVE announced that it has acquired the new action dark fantasy TV series Chained Soldier. Based on the long-running shōnen manga title of the same name by Takahiro and Yohei Takemura, Chained Soldier is set to premiere as an exclusive simulcast next January on the popular anime streaming service from AMC Networks. HIDIVE also revealed that it will host the North American premiere of Chained Soldier with a special screening of the first two episodes on November 17 at Anime NYC in New York City.

“We’re thrilled to host the North American premiere of Chained Soldier at this year’s Anime NYC in November,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “This highly anticipated new show based on the popular manga series by Takahiro and Yohei Takemura is sure to be a hit, and we’re excited to offer it exclusively to our subscribers during our Winter 2024 season kicking off this coming January!”

Two supernatural forces appeared simultaneously on Earth: entrances to another dimension known as Mato and Peaches, resources that give unique abilities to women. From the Mato come Yomotsu Shuuki, dangerous monsters that leave destruction in their wake. The government’s Anti-demon Corps stands against these creatures, employing women empowered by Peaches to face the monstrous threat. Yuuki Wakura watches these forces clash from a distance. Still, when he unexpectedly runs afoul of a Yomotsu Shuuki, he’s rescued by Kyouka Uzen, the chief of the Seventh Unit of the Anti-demon Corp—and she sees something in him that could turn the tide of the monster incursion. Yuki holds the unique power to make Peaches more effective, but he’ll have to become Kyoka’s willing slave to join the fight against the Yomotsu Shuuki and save the world.

Published by Shueisha in Shōnen Jump+, Chained Soldier launched in January 2019 and currently totals 13 volumes with more than 2 million copies in print. The English language edition of the manga series is published by Yen Press.

Chained Soldier is produced by Seven Arcs with co-direction by Junji Nishimura (chief) and Gorō Kuji, series composition by Yasuhiro Nakanishi, and script writing by Ryota Kanō and Akira Kindaichi. The series stars include Yūya Hirose as Yūki Wakura, Akari Kitō as Kyōka Uzen, Yume Miyamoto as Himari Azuma, Mari Hino as Shushu Suruga, Hina Tachibana as Nei Ōkawamura, and Maaya Uchida as Tenka Izumo.
