Today also sees the release of episode one gameplay footage, impressions, and interviews from both press and creators, who attended a special hands-on event in Los Angeles in mid-May. There they spoke to team members from both Deck Nine Games and Telltale, along with Cara Gee (Camina Drummer), got extensive hands-on with Episode 1, and immersed themselves in The Expanse universe like never before.

“It’s been a long journey resurrecting such a beloved brand, but we are finally here and can’t wait to share our first new game,” said Jamie Ottilie, Telltale CEO. “We couldn’t be more proud of the work from the teams at Deck Nine and Telltale. We are thrilled to be back with new stories to tell!”

Telltale recently announced that Episode 1 of The Expanse: A Telltale Series would be launching on July 27, 2023, on Epic Games Store, PlayStation & . In order to create conversations and speculation within the community, the following four episodes will be released every two weeks. This also allows players an opportunity to explore other choices in-between releases.

“With The Expanse: A Telltale Series, we wanted this to feel like a playable episode of the show with our favorite character Camina Drummer,” said Stephan Frost, the project’s game director. “Scavenging derelict ships, managing relationships with a tough crew, a mutiny, avoiding cutthroat space pirates, and a new zero-g exploration gameplay has us very excited for players to get their hands on the game.”

Pre-orders for both the Standard ($39.99) and Deluxe Editions ($44.99) are going live today on PlayStation, Xbox & Epic Games Store. Players who pre-order will receive 24-hour early access on every episode, while players who purchase the Deluxe edition will also receive DLC (content to be announced at a later date).

The first new IP announced by Telltale since the company re-formed in 2019, The Expanse: A Telltale Series, is set prior to the events of Alcon Television Group’s critically acclaimed and award-winning television series, which streams on Amazon Prime Video. Players take on the role of Camina Drummer (played by actress Cara Gee in both the game and TV series), the XO of a scavenger crew on the hunt for a mysterious treasure on the edges of The Belt. As Drummer, players must deal with a mix of powerful personalities, square off against a bloody mutiny, explore locations beyond The Belt, and, most of all, make tough decisions that will decide the fate of The Artemis crew. Scour shipwrecks, use mag boots to walk on walls and ceilings, and utilize Zero-G thrusters to float through sections of ships and the open expanse of space in the largest and most immersive exploration of any Telltale game to date.
