Battle Bows-But Why Tho

Battle Bows, the fast-paced co-op VR wave shooter from WIMO Games’ creative staff of former vice presidents and gaming industry veterans from companies including Electronic Arts, GREE, Zynga, and KingsIsle Entertainment, aims at the balloony bullseye on Meta Quest 2 and SteamVR platforms on Thursday, July 13, as revealed today at the UploadVR Showcase.

In Battle Bows’ fantasy realm, a substance known as Inflatium inadvertently led to the evolution of sentient balloons. When a fresh supply of Inflatium is discovered, an evil faction of the balloon creatures wants it all. They’re sending wave after wave of attackers to harvest those limited resources for themselves. Despite their wicked ways, they’re still mostly rubber and air, meaning they have a glaring weakness: sharp, pointy objects.

Join a team of four stalwart defenders, each stationed in a tower and equipped with longbows and magic arrows, to fend off wave after wave of these floating invaders. With VR controller in hand, take aim and fire all in one intuitive, satisfying motion. Fell these rubbery foes and learn their intricacies; some require a few more hits, others move quickly or take tricky paths but keep launching arrows and they’ll pop just the same.

Imbue each archer with Fire, Ice, Electric, or Poison abilities granted by one of the castle’s four magical towers. Detonate explosive traps across the battlefield to shatter their offensive while dodging the enemy’s attacks. With stealthy Phantoms, self-shielding Necromancers, and attacks from both the hordes aground and in the skies above, archers will need speed and accuracy to survive the ultimate boss fight.

Overcome the challenges of Battle Bows solo or in multiplayer via Quick Play and private co-op lobbies. Demonstrate mastery through an Endless Mode with seasonal updates and leaderboard resets. WIMO Games also has more content in the works for future seasons, along with support for further VR headsets and platforms in development.

“Our initial prototype was so much fun; we just had to go down this path and turn Battle Bows into both a full game and our VR debut,” said Dave Rosen, CEO of WIMO Games. “Years of experience making games both here at WIMO and at our previous stops in the industry taught us how to ensure a game is engaging right from the start.”

Battle Bows releases on Thursday, July 13, on the Meta Store for Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro and Steam for SteamVR for $19.99 with language support in English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.
