Sabikui Bisco Episode 10

Sabikui Bisco is a fantasy/adventure anime produced by Oz. With Bisco and Kurosawa being claimed by the molten rust intended to power the Ganesha cannon, Bisco, Jabi, and Pawoo are left to face what remains of the villain’s forces and deal with the passing of their dear friend. But when the Tetsujin reawakens, the danger to Japan quickly increases exponentially on Sabikui Bisco Episode 10.

This episode does a fantastic job of balancing the need to acknowledge the weight of the last episode’s events while pushing forward with the growing scale of the series’ plot. In particular, the episode’s story imparts to the viewer the impact of Bisco’s passing on Milo. Rather than transmit this impact through long-winded speeches or other exposition, Sabikui Bisco Episode 10 utilizes the show’s latest threat to let the viewer discover through Milo’s actions just how much Bisco has changed him.

The first thing that will strike viewers about this threat is the sheer scale of it. While the Tetsujin was shown in last week’s episode, the shot of it that was used did not do this monstrosity justice. This thing is a full-blown kaiju in scale and packs a series wallop. Beyond just its impressive armament and seemingly impervious armor, there is an even greater secret that brings an extra level of menace to the titan’s rampage.

Between the emotional opening and the ruckus combat that ensues with Tetsujin’s awakening, the artistic presentation in Sabikui Bisco Episode 10 is firing on all cylinders. This wonderful performance is highlighted by how the animation depicts Tetsujin’s epic attacks. The intensity and terror that the visuals impart in these moments make the slow-moving goliath feel like an actual avatar of death, reminiscent of the nearly unstoppable marches of other world-ending anime monsters like Neon Genesis: Evangelion‘s Angels.

While the show does an excellent job of communicating the threat of Tetsujin, it does an equally fantastic job of showing our heroes rise to meet the threat. Simultaneously channeling some of his departed partner, Milo throws himself at the threat with abandon and skill. And while Milo steals the show when it comes to those resisting the titan’s march, the animation delivers several other key moments of defiance from those around our main protagonist.

Sabikui Bisco Episode 10 manages to bring all these elements together and melds them into a story with a strong emotional start that turns into a kaiju attack. The way the story handles this transition is surprisingly seamless, and the cliffhanger that wraps the episode up promises more mayhem from the cast next week.

Sabikui Bisco Episode 10 is streaming now on Crunchyroll.
