Pax Unplugged 2021 - But Why Tho

Conventions are back which means PAX Unplugged 2021, the most attended tabletop gaming convention in the eastern United States returns to the Philadelphia Convention Center from December 10 – 12, 2021. After two years without a PAX Unplugged, badges are going on sale soon following the return of PAX West over Labor Day weekend. Like the previous event, PAX Unplugged 2021 will also be instituting safety guidelines that will require all attendees to show proof of a complete COVID-19 vaccination series and abide by stringent masking requirements.

If you’re looking for a tabletop event, this is it, with hundreds of game publishers, independent creators, and vendors will showcase their wares in Philadelphia, PA, including many of the biggest names in board games, role-playing games, miniatures, and card games. You’ll be able to go hands-on with the latest from Cephalofair, creators of the wildly popular tactical phenomenon Gloomhaven. Hang out with R. Talsorian Games, makers of the Cyberpunk role-playing universe and The Witcher Pen & Paper RPG. And of course, you can experience live demos from CGE, publishers of Codenames, Galaxy Trucker, and Sanctum.

“Boardgames are, among other things, about being together,” said Jerry Holkins, co-founder, Penny Arcade. “With our safety protocols in place for PAX Unplugged, it’s time to dust off those Legacy games we got halfway through in 2019.”

The show floor will feature Bézier Games, KOSMOS, Rock Manor Games, Lone Shark Games, Mage Hand Press, Devir Games, Chaosium Inc., Leder Games, Wyrmwood, and many more. Additionally, panels hosted by acclaimed designers, content creators, and fan-favorite personalities will be taking place. Finally, the Free to Play area will also be open, while maintaining safety guidelines. With greater COVID-19 vaccine availability for children ages 5 to 11, Sunday Kids Day badges have been added for those who have completed a full vaccination series 14 days prior to the show.

Celebrate tabletop gaming with an array of panels hosted in-person and on the official PAX Twitch channel by renowned industry figures, content creators, designers, and celebrities. Witness the Season 11 finale of Rivals of Waterdeep as the cast concludes their latest arc on the Main Stage Friday night. Join Dungeons & Dragons YouTubers Dingo Doodles, JoCat, Puffin Forest, JessJackdaw, and Felix Irnich for a live Q&A Saturday on the Main Stage. Hear Eberron creator Keith Baker’s inside info on the legendary campaign setting and new, unannounced projects.
