Marvel Comics To Read June

I want to talk about the Marvel Comics to read June 23rd’s New Comic Day so you can add them to your reading list. This week’s comics feature the Heroes Return one-shot, which serves as the grand conclusion to the Heroes Reborn storyline, and the after-effects from Planet-Size X-Men rippling out into Marvel’s other cosmic titles. Immortal Hulk launches a new spinoff series, and Marvel’s Voices: Pride celebrates the House of Ideas’ LGBTQIA+ heroes. From cosmic politics to the return of a fan-favorite Hulk, here are the Marvel comics you should be reading this week! Without further ado here are the Marvel Comics to read in June 23rd New Comic Day.

Heroes Return #1

Heroes Return #1 - But Why Tho

Creative Team: Jason Aaron, Ed McGuinness, Mark Morales, Matt Wilson, VC’s Cory Petit

Heroes Return #1 acts as the grand conclusion to the Heroes Reborn storyline, which serves as Jason Aaron’s finest hour on the Avengers title. If you’re looking for a shot of classic superhero action, this one-shot, as well as the entire Heroes Reborn series is worth your time and money.

Heroes Return #1 can be found on ComiXology, and wherever comics are sold.

Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1

Marvel Voices Pride #1 - But Why Tho

Creative Team: Kieron Gillen, Allan Heinberg, Anthony Oliveira, Steve Orlando, Tini Howard, Leah Williams, Mariko Takami, Terry Blas, Crystal Fraiser, Vita Ayala, J.J. Kirby, Luciano Vecchio, Lilah Sturges, Derek Charm, Joanna Estep, Mike O’Sullivan, Javier Garrón, Jim Cheung, Kris Anka, Jen Hickman, Paulina Ganucheau, Jethro Morales, Britney Williams, J.J. Kirby, Luciano Vecchio, Jan Bazaldua, Claudia Aguirre, Britney Peer, Tamra Bonvillain, Jacopo Camagni, David Curiel, Rachelle Rosenberg, VC’s Ariana Maher

The Marvel’s Voices anthology continues with a special featuring a multitude of LGBTQIA+ heroes from the Marvel Universe, with multiple LGBTIQIA+ creators involved. Perhaps my favorite story has to be “The Vows,” which showcases the vows between Wiccan and Hulking and also reunites Young Avengers creators Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung.

Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1 can be found on ComiXology, and wherever comics are sold.

S.W.O.R.D. #6

S.W.O.R.D. #6

Creative Team: Al Ewing, Valero Schiti, Marte Gracia, Ariana Maher

In the wake of Planet-Size X-Men #1, S.W.O.R.D. attempts to negotiate Earth’s place on the cosmic stage. The issue is jam-packed with revelations, including a surprising reconciliation and the reveal of Mars’ new ruler. Whether you’re into Cosmic Marvel, X-Men, or both, this is an issue you can’t miss.

S.W.O.R.D #6 can be found on ComiXology, and wherever comics are sold.

Guardians Of The Galaxy #15

Marvel Comics To Read June

Creative Team: Al Ewing, Juan Frigeri, Federico Blee, VC’s Cory Petit

Star-Lord and Nova travel to the Hellfire Gala, while the other Guardians of the Galaxy confront a new threat. This issue not only sets up the next major Guardians storyline, but it also has a great conversation and conflict between Magneto and Nova.

Guardians Of The Galaxy #15 can be found on ComiXology, and wherever comics are sold.

Gamma Flight #1

Marvel Comics To Read June

Creative Team: Al Ewing & Crystal Fraiser, Lan Medina, Antonio Fabela, VC’s Joe Sabino

Spinning out of Immortal Hulk, this series finds the team known as Gamma Flight attempting to stay one step ahead of the government while encountering a fan-favorite Hulk. The group not only has to deal with being fugitives but infighting and the downsides to their gamma-fueled abilities. A perfect compliment to the events of Immortal Hulk.

Gamma Fight #1 can be found on ComiXology, and wherever comics are sold.

Reptil #2

Reptil #2 - Marvel Comics To Read June

Creative Team: Terry Blas, Enio Balam, Victor Ozabala, Carlos Lopez, VC’s Joe Sabino

Reptil travels to Dinosaur World to learn more about his powers and the mystery behind his parents’ disappearance. This book continues to be packed with dinosaurs galore, and also serves as a love letter to its protagonist’s Latinx heritage-fitting, since the creative team is comprised of Latinx creatives.

Reptil #2 can be found on ComiXology, and wherever comics are sold.

Silk #4

Silk #4

Creative Team: Maurene Goo, Takeshi Miyazawa, Ian Herring, VC’s Ariana Maher

The origin of Cindy Moon’s new foe Saya Ishii has been revealed, as well as her ties to one of Spider-Man’s foes. Though Cindy takes a bit of a back seat to the main action, the issue’s end sets up a massive new threat for her to face.

Silk #4 can be found on ComiXology, and wherever comics are sold.

This week’s titles conclude two high-profile Marvel storylines and also promises big things for its upcoming cosmic titles. With The Last Annihilation slated to begin in Guardians of the Galaxy #16, fans will definitely want to keep their eyes out for more of Marvel’s cosmic champions. Al Ewing also continues to be one of the strongest writers in Marvel’s stable, due to his presence on this list-and given that he’ll be taking up co-writing duties on Venom with Ram V, I don’t see that changing any time soon.

Synopsis for the comics featured in the titles in this Marvel Comics to Read June 23nd list were taken directly from ComiXology.
