Tropical-Rouge PreCure Episode 10

Last time on Tropical-Rouge PreCure, the members of the Tropical Club helped teen actor Yuna Yanabe get into her role as a villain-type character. Things were good until a new Yarane-da appeared. However, the Tropical Quartet quickly defeated it, demonstrating their massive growth as heroines. However, the Witch of Delays revealed a new item: the Zenzne Yarane-da. In Tropical-Rouge PreCure Episode 10, we’ll see if the girls can take on this new foe!

Tropical-Rouge PreCure Episode 10, “Combined Motivation! Pretty Cure Mix Tropical!” kicks off with another club activity…well, until Sango, Asuka, and Minori head home to go study for their exams. Sango kindly asks if Manatsu will be okay without studying for their tests. And of course, our very excited heroine… is a poor student. She’s so bad that she gets a 9 out of 100 on her homework. So, without hesitation, Asuka decides that for now, the Tropical Club… is closed. (At least until Manatsu gets her grades up!)

Post-OP, Manatsu is hitting the books by studying some English. Well… she’s attempting to study. Unfortunately for her, Kururun and Laura decide to play an impromptu game behind her with a very loud rubber ball. But Manatsu is determined to study…! Well, until she gets distracted and finds herself thirsty. Then she decides to clean. Then she sees a book of delicious-looking sweets and gets distracted by that.

It’s then Laura very pointedly asks Manatsu when she’s going to study, only for Manatsu to offer up a few excuses. It’s then that she finally consults her friends for advice. However, it quickly becomes apparent that Manatsu’s not going to find an easy way out. She’s gotta hit the books and remain diligent. However, it’s not long before that new Zenzen Yarane-da makes an appearance. This time, it’s in the form of an English textbook. Unlike the previous Yarane-da, this one is strong enough to knock Manatsu out of her battle form as Cure Summer, which leaves her vulnerable to having her motivation taken away. Clearly, this Zenzen Yarane-da is on a whole ‘nother level.

Speaking of enemies, viewers are also treated to a Tropical Quartet transformation sequence rather early in Tropical-Rouge PreCure Episode 10, which is a nice change of pace. Thus far, they’ve only become the legendary Pretty Cure warriors in the back half of episodes. It’s nice to see the truncated sequence in the front half. However, that’s not all the changes that come to this episode, if you look at the title. Viewers also get to witness some level-ups for the Tropical Quartet, which are very welcome. It comes with a quite moving scene and some very solid sound design, and honestly, is a nice return to a more action-centric episode.

Tropical-Rouge PreCure Episode 10 has a solid sense of momentum. Even when the girls seem down for the count, there’s a deep feeling that Manatsu will come through. So much of that is because of the power of the Tropical Quartet’s friendship. Now as the girl’s friendship still is, it’s strong enough to take on this new foe, and assumably, all the future Zenzen Yarane-da that will come. I really look forward to them developing as fellow warriors and friends. Tropical-Rouge PreCure Episode 10 is just that darn good.

Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure is now streaming on Crunchyroll.
