Trained to kill enemies of American democracy and freedom, the Pacific Pearl team continues to carry on their mission, even now, long after they’d already given their lives to the cause. A Horror-War series set across the past, present, and future, a freak occurrence reanimates an island of freshly killed soldiers in the wake of the Battle of Midway in World War 2.

On the series, Romero said, “When Heavy Metal CEO Matt Medney asked me to take the reins on a four-part series…I jumped at the chance. I think it was my love for working on alternate history stories that Matt and I vibed most over, and it has been such an amazing experience to craft Cold Dead War.”

He continues, “The creative process for Cold Dead War was definitely a fun one! I love working in alternate versions of real history and that chance to take such an iconic character on such a gnarly journey through one of the most impactful times of world history was something I didn’t take lightly, but it was also something that I had a lot of fun doing. I was also writing The Rise at the same time, and the biggest challenge was working on two stories not only inspired by iconic pop culture films…but also both set in the realm of the undead. Both projects are so important to me, so I decided to create separate universes for each, so each story stands on its own and there is no cross-over.”

Cold Dead War #1 is in shops March 24, 2021 for the suggested retail price of $3.99.
