Netflix has released more information about its new soccer documentary, USA 94: Brazil’s Return to Glory, which depicts the Brazilian national team’s World Cup title run in 1994 in the United States. Set to premiere globally on the streamer on May 7, 2026, the film shows how the team won its fourth World Cup through exclusive player interviews and brand-new behind-the-scenes footage.

Written, directed, and produced by Luis Ara, USA 94: Brazil’s Return to Glory aims to be an intimate documentary that uses never-before-seen clips alongside interviews with stars, many of whom have not given interviews in quite some time.

The documentary includes spontaneous memories from the 1994 team, recorded by two members: goalie Gilmar Rinaldi, who filmed practices and time together on video cassette, and right-back Jorginho, who filmed more than six hours of footage of the team’s day-to-day experience.

A Trailer Films production, this new documentary adds to a growing filmography of soccer docs, including Higuita: The Way of the Scorpion, Brasil 2002, and the newly announced RONALDINHO, which is a documentary of the historic player.

What is USA 94: Brazil’s Return to Glory about?

After their loss in the 1990 World Cup and a dramatic performance in qualifiers that came down to a final round of elimination games, the Brazilian team arrived in the United States. The film promises to highlight the players and coaches’ experiences as they rose to claim Brazil’s coveted fourth World Cup title, 24 years after winning their third in Mexico in 1970.

The official Netflix synopsis:

This is the story of Brazil’s fourth World Cup title, won in 1994, as told by its key protagonists: the players from the Brazilian team and their rivals. The film was created using previously unseen content recorded by the athletes themselves over the course of the tournament.

This is the story of Brazil’s return to glory for the first time since the golden days of Pelé. The team that arrived at the World Cup dealt with skeptics in the press and distrust from fans. But thanks to teamwork, the leadership of captain Dunga, and goals from Bebeto and Romário, they won their fourth title.
