Dead As Disco Raves Into Early Access Summer 2026

Brain Jar Games’ Dead As Disco has already become a viral sensation online (having already registered 1.2 million players for its Steam demo), and after its trailer during the Triple-I Initiative Showcase, I can see why. The indie game title is set to launch in Early Access on May 5, 2026, on PC for Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Dripping in neon, the new Early Access reveal trailer for Dead As Disco highlights how the rhythm-based action game turns every fight into a music-driven performance. But we also get a deeper look at the neon-drenched world at the center of Dead as Disco, Idol boss fights, and a first taste of the game’s original soundtrack.

What is Dead as Disco?

Dead as Disco screenshot from Brain Jar Games

A very literal “beat em’ up, this indie title syncs every punch, kick, and combo to the soundtrack (or your own), in order to turn every fight into a unique dancefloor. In addition to martial arts-inspired combat (that frankly looks like a fighter most of the time), the game also has customization mechanics.

You can customize Charlie Disco with different fashion choices and accessories. Additionally, “The Encore” is a music club that serves as a personal hub of sorts, where players can collect unique memorabilia, use it to decorate the bar and club, and then learn more about Charlie’s band, death, and return. Add in the mechanic that lets you add your own music, and it’s easy to see why this title has gone as viral as it has.

Official Synopsis from Brain Jar Games:

Martial arts meets music video in Dead as Disco, a neon-drenched Beat ‘Em Up where every punch, kick, and combo syncs to the music!

Dead as Disco puts you in the dancing shoes of Charlie Disco, a fallen icon with one chance to reclaim the spotlight from the Idols, Charlie’s ex-bandmates and musical legends.

Confront the Idols in stylish combat that syncs to every song, and survive a world torn apart by music, fame, and betrayal in this action-packed, literal Beat ‘Em Up!

What to expect when Early Access launches?

In Early Access, players will be able to experience the first arc of the narrative campaign, tackle skillful challenges, try on rockstar fashion, and get familiar with the original soundtrack, which is currently set at just over 30 songs. Additionally, EA will launch with the “My Music” feature, which allows you to play the game to your own score.

Early Access Available Idols
  • Hemlock – A former punk rocker who sold out the revolution, Hemlock now serves as Harmony Corp’s number one enforcer, unleashing his vandalism-prone fans anywhere they point.
  • Arora – Engineered for global domination, Arora is a next-gen AI pop idol customized just for you…based on personal data Harmony Corp promises it doesn’t have.
  • Dex – Dex is a cybernetically enhanced guitar god hardwired into Harmony’s grid, shredding endlessly in pursuit of perfection.
  • Prophet – Rapper, producer, and kingmaker. Prophet birthed a thousand careers. Now he buries them for Harmony Corp.

What is the release date?
