Maximum Entertainment is listening to players and adding the most requested mode to Maximum Footbald: Franchise Mode—and it’s coming to the game December 9, 2025. Maximum Football’s new mode will introduce a fully customizable pro football experience, allowing users to develop and control two leagues within a single universe.

“Maximum Football’s Franchise Mode puts players in complete control of their team, their league, and their legacy,” said Anth Rogers, head of product and studios at Maximum Entertainment. “Our community has been asking for this since Early Access, and we are incredibly excited for everyone to dive in and experience the freedom of Franchise.”

If you’re looking for more information on the game and the upcoming mode, keep reading. And if you’d like to see the in-depth dev blog post from Maximum Entertainment, here. But, if not, here are the highlights.

What to expect from Maximum Football’s Franchise Mode?

Maximum Football’s Franchise Mode allows players to connect both their college and pro football teams into a single ecosystem. TFranchise mode is designed to allow players’ graduating seniors in Dynasty Mode to automatically flow into the following year’s Franchise draft pool, so the players you develop and coach in college can continue their careers in the pros.

This feature remains even if players keep playing their Dynasty years into the future. This means that the Maximum Football franchise will continuously reference the correct graduating class for the draft. That said, Maximum Entertainment also explained that each Dynasty can only be connected to one franchise.

Additionally, the new mode enables players to import their custom teams, reorganize divisions, set custom rules, and refine their strategy to establish a solid reputation in the world of professional football.

What are the Franchise Mode customization options?

Maximum Entertainment has ensured that the new title includes options familiar to players in other football games, aiming to build parity across the existing franchise options on the market. While the ability to connect college and professional play is this title’s primary addition that others lack, it’s also important that players don’t miss the essentials as well.

Players start by choosing the league size, and then customize the conferences and divisions:

  • 32 teams: The classic pro setup
  • 8 teams: A compact league inspired by spring football
  • 12 teams: A nod to the 80s pro football
  • 16 or 24 teams: Fully fictional formats for players who want to get creative

Additionally, like other versions of franchise mode in other sports games, players are also given a customization of options to define play for the league as well:

  • Overtime format
  • Kickoff type
  • Hashmark width
  • Number of feet required for a catch
  • Ball type (Line or No Line)
  • 2-point conversion yard line
  • Down-by-contact rules
  • PAT distance
  • Scoring values for touchdowns and safeties
  • Two-minute warning behavior
  • Quarter length, play clock, and acceleration rates
  • Fair catch
Stadium Management

Each team begins with its own home stadium, which you’ll upgrade over time instead of replacing entirely. As facilities improve, players will unlock new items and amenities to sell inside the venue, which will both boost revenue and player satisfaction.

Trade & Free Agency

In Franchise Mode, every free agent assigns themselves a desired contract value based on performance, age, and reputation. Like in Madden, you’ll judge the value of a Free Agent against your cap space to manage your team and pick up key positions you may need.

Players evaluate offers based on:

  • Total contract value
  • Length and guaranteed money
  • Team prestige and culture
  • Competing offers
  • Market demand

In addition to picking up free agents, Trading is also a factor in Maximum Football’s new additions. Repeated failed offers can cause trade partners to lose patience, temporarily locking you out of negotiations. Considerations  for trades include:

  • Player overall and age
  • Contract length and morale
  • Team depth at that position
  • Injury history
  • Whether teams share a division (in 16–32 team leagues)
Coaching

Maximum Football is also expanding its Coaching system with the December addition of Franchise Mode. Each team will feature a Head Coach, an Offensive Coordinator, and a Defensive Coordinator, meeting the expectations established by other titles in this mode. Maximum Entertainment has also stressed that setting synchronous coaching teams is important for success on the field.

The staff you choose will provide you with weekly updates:

  • Offensive and defensive scouting reports on your upcoming opponent.
  • Preparation bonuses that temporarily boost player attributes.
  • Weekly development summaries highlighting which players improved.

What is the release date for Franchise Mode?

Maximum Entertainment has announced that Franchise Mode will be added to the game on December 9, 2025.
