Prime Video announced that its popular mystery-thriller series, We Were Liars, has been renewed for a second season. We Were Liars Season 2 is a continuation of the series, based on the best-selling novel by E. Lockhart, and will return exclusively to Prime Video, available to stream in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

“MacKenzie and Plec have big, big plans for Season Two, including everything readers of my books are dying to see onscreen —  and a lot of surprises as well,” said E. Lockhart.

The first season followed the intricate lives of the affluent Sinclair family and the “Liars”—a tight-knit group of cousins and a close friend—during a fateful summer on their private island in New England, leading up to a mysterious accident that alters the life of protagonist Cadence Sinclair Eastman.

“We loved making this show with so many spectacular humans,” said Julie Plec and Carina Adly Mackenzie. “The fan response was truly special. There are still plenty of secrets buried on Beechwood Island, and we can’t wait to keep digging them up.”

What is We Were Liars?

We Were Liars Season 2

The first season of We Were Liars established the Sinclairs as American royalty—a family known for their wealth, good looks, and an enviable, yet fragile, bond. The core of the plot revolves around Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her inner circle of friends, collectively called the Liars, and the secrets that begin to surface following a life-changing accident. The genre is a blend of mystery, thriller, and young adult drama, centered on uncovering the truth hidden by those closest to Cadence.
