Netflix has confirmed that production is officially underway in Paris on Lupin Part 4, the continuation of the globally popular French action-crime series. Omar Sy reprises his iconic role as the gentleman thief Assane Diop, who last sacrificed his freedom for his family’s safety by turning himself over to the police.

It’s been two years since we last saw Assane Diop, and it’s about time we came back. While Netflix has not announced the official premiere date, the streamer did confirm that filming commenced in May via TUDUM, the Netflix-owned blog where it releases news and interviews highlighting its entertainment offerings.

If you’re unfamiliar, Lupin follows the adventures of Assane Diop, a master of disguise and deception whose exploits are inspired by the literary works of Arsène Lupin, a character created by Maurice Leblanc. The series is a captivating blend of the crime, drama, and mystery genres, set against the enchanting backdrop of Paris.

Lupin Part Two

About Lupin Part 1, our critic said, “Lupin is a thrilling and witty series with a refreshingly original story… Omar Sy gives an awesome performance and truly embodies the gentleman thief role.”

And that excitement for Omar Sy’s series has carried through to Part 2, with our critic adding, “This season beautifully expanded and deepened the story that was set up in the first installment. Lupin Part 2 is a prime example of what the heist genre is all about. This installment was packed with suspense, twists, turns, and surprises throughout the season.”

Part 3 continued its trend of success, our critic said, “Lupin Part 3 continues to captivate audiences, delivering a compelling blend of action and suspense that makes it a must-watch for fans of crime dramas.”

What will happen in Lupin Part 4?

Lupin is created by George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan, with the participation of Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer, and Tigran Rosine. Omar Sy and Louis Leterrier serve as showrunners for the series. The third part of the series saw Assane achieve his goals of stealing the Black Pearl, winning public support, faking his own death, and saving his estranged mother’s life.

However, he decided that the only path to a quiet and, more importantly, safe life for his wife, son, mother, and best friend required him to turn himself in. At the end of Lupin Part 3, Assane  Diop was behind bars, but with a new set of Arsène Lupin books right by him, ripe with inspiration for what fans hope is a stunning escape.

The creators promise the latest installment will constantly surprise viewers with its plot twists and captivating characters. While we don’t know what will happen in Lupin Part 4 just yet, the announcement trailer takes us to the Eiffel Tower, and we see Assane, very much a free man.
