If you’re like me, then you grew up with David Duchovny on television. Now, he’s returning, only this time it’s on Prime Video’s Malice. The series, starring Duchovny, Carice van Houten, and Jack Whitehall, finally has a new trailer and release date for November 14, 2025.

Created by James Wood, Malice is a six-episode limited series that aims to tell a class-skewering revenge story set against the backdrop of Greece. Wood is joined by directors Mike Barker (Fargo, The Handmaid’s Tale) and Leonora Lonsdale (Dangerous Liaisons, The Pale Horse). And if you look at those credits, it’s pretty clear that a revenge thriller is right up their alley.

What is Malice about?

A revenge thriller, Adam (Jack Whitehall) is a charismatic tutor who charms his way into the life of the wealthy Tanner family while they’re on holiday in Greece. When the family’s nanny falls dangerously ill, Adam orchestrates his way into their London home, and his true vengeful nature begins to emerge.

If you’re getting Hand that Rocks the Cradle vibes, well, you’re not the only one. As Adam becomes a larger part of the family, he works hard to turn Jamie Tanner (David Duchovny) and Nat (Carice van Houten) against each other, hoping to eventually rip the entire family apart and bring them as far down as he can manage. But when Adam’s obsession with the family raises questions, those who dig deeper into his past find themselves playing a dangerous game.

“This role is unlike anything I’ve ever done before. Moving from comedy to playing a character so deliciously dark and complex was exhilarating,” Jack Whitehall commented in a release to press. “Adam is the kind of character who makes you question everything – he’s charming and funny one moment and absolutely chilling the next.”

With his world collapsing around him, Jamie starts to realise that Adam may be responsible for all their recent disasters – but is it too late to save his family, and how does he even save them from someone who has become so deeply rooted within them?

Yes, that synopsis for Malice seems like a lot, but it’s a variation of the official one that has been listed. Which, if you pay attention to Prime Video series, means there is much more to uncover once the six-episode series starts.
