If you’ve been playing Madden NFL 26, especially if you’ve been playing in an online franchise, you’ve likely encountered some issues this month. Whether it was broken pass rush or your Franchise blipping from existence only to leave you panicked, it’s been a rough go since the September Title Update. But the Madden 26 October Title Update is bringing some fixes to the table (and thankfully, the good old “turn it off and on again” worked to save most leagues from the blip).
As usual, you can find the complete list of fixes, changes, and overall updates through EA Sports’ official Gridiron Notes here. But, if you just want the key highlights and greatest hits from the Madden 26 October Title Update, keep reading, we’ve got you covered.
The first thing to note is that the Madden NFL 26 October Title Update focuses on defense, which we sorely needed. The key improvements rolled out today address the broken pass rush, coverage depth, and overall defensive logic in the hopes of making the gameplay experience more balanced on both sides of the field. However, don’t worry, the offense is also receiving a few improvements with tweaks to blocking, catching, and player movement. And if you’re like me and keep fumbling on a specific RPO, well, they took care of that, too.
Head here to check out the September Title Update highlights.
Madden 26 October Title Update — Gameplay
Defense
Key Highlight: All eyes have been on the Madden 26 pass rush issues, which have mimicked the issues in EA Sports CFB 26. To address this, the developers have rolled out not just one adjustment, but a suite of them in the Madden 26 Title Update. This includes fixing an issue where defenders with equal or lower Pass Rush ratings were unable to trigger a Super Win. Now, all defenders have a fair chance to break through based on situational factors and ratings, allowing you to get more from those defenders you’ve been using Camp Counselor on.
Additionally, EA Sports has removed the surf animation for Defenders running Contains (one of the only ways to handle QBs pre-Update) when defending against run actions or play action. However, that isn’t the only update coming to Contain; the issue of Defenders disengaging when the QB drops excessively deep in the pocket has also been fixed, allowing Pass Rushers to react more quickly to extended dropbacks.
And finally, they’ve also reduced the frequency of Bull Rush moves being triggered. This will allow Pass Rushers to now use a more balanced variety of moves based on their archetype and ratings. When you couple this with updates for user-controlled responsibility, it looks like we can actually pressure the QB again.
The rest of the updates include:
- Fixed an issue causing a safety in coverage to sometimes use an incorrect drastic turn, taking him out of position to cover a corner route.
- Fixed an issue causing the AI-controlled defense to sometimes align incorrectly in goalline vs. certain 4-WR sets.
- Fixed an issue with Zone coverage defenders flipping coverage assignments to the opposite side of the field in Nickel 3-3 Single Mug formation when the offense flips the play.
Offense
Key Highlight: The developers have fixed a catching issue in the Stretch Alert Bubble play, where the catch would initiate but not sync up with the pass, resulting in a fumble. Yes, this is a highlight for me since I lost two games on the back of this fumble. So, without other major updates, this takes the Offensive Highlight spot.
- Tuning to improve scramble throw animations by elite scramblers like Lamar Jackson.
- Addressed an issue with no cut-move playing on slants.
- Fixed the Bowling Celebration, where the ball was teleporting forward.
- The QB Fumble Chance vs user hitstick on Competitive Gamestyle for better gameplay balance has been increased (rejoice MUT players).
- Greatly improved the visual clarity when a player on the field triggers an Ability.
Special Teams
Key Highlights: We typically don’t receive many Special Teams updates, so there are two key updates to note. First, EA Sports has tuned 99 KPW to allow users to kick a 70-yard field goal with maximum power and low trajectory, replicating Jaguars Kicker Cam Little’s 70-yarder from the preseason.
Second, the devs have addressed several blocked kick exploits; however, they did not share which ones. One possibility included the exploit where users run straight up the middle, during a FG or PAT, taking advantage of a vulnerable LS who can’t block and effectively blocking the kick.
Madden 26 October Title Update — Franchise
Key Highlight: While the “blip” as I have been referring to it in my leagues has been resolved for now, the most recent response on the issue from EA Sports via their official X (formerly Twitter) account indicates that they are investigating a permanent fix for the problem. That said, we haven’t had any follow-up communication. Here’s to hoping the next Title Update mentions it explicitly.
- Addressed an issue where the CPU automatically promotes the team’s existing Offensive or Defensive coordinator if a user leaves the league. Preventing a new user from completing a game until the league advances
- Updated an issue where the Super Bowl logo referenced was last year’s Super Bowl LIX image.
- Updated an issue where Coach Abilities were displaying as locked, although they were unlocked within the Coach Archetype’s path
Madden 26 October Title Update — Ultimate Teams
Field Pass, Progression & Rewards
- Weekly Spotlight content now displays the correct reward and level and can be accessed normally.
- Addressed inaccurate rank-point (RP) indicators and progression visuals in Ranked H2H.
- Purchasing the Premium Pass when at max level now correctly displays reward timing on the free track.
- Resolved a case where Top-100 players saw “Unranked 0” as the next rank in reward screens.
Lineups & Team Management
- Fixed an issue where swapping players already in the depth chart could cause the eligible player list to disappear.
- Strategy and chemistry logos now display properly on player cards and lineup tiles.
- Secondary-position icons now appear correctly on the chemistry card back.
Madden 26 October Title Update — Mascots
Key Highlight: All mascots for the NFL teams now have costumed mascots reprenseted in Madden NFL 26 (if they have them, that is). the last patch did add in Blitz (Seahawks), Blue (Colts), Chomps (Browns), Gumbo (Saints), Panthers (Sir Purr), Steely McBeam (Steelers), T-Rac (Titans), and Viktor (Vikings), however it was noted in the Gridiron Notes. For the Madden 26 October Title Update adds Pat Patriot.
