While Battlefield REDSEC (which you can read more about here) may have a lot of the spotlight with its new Battle Royale and the anticipated launch of Portal, Battlefield 6 Season 1 is expanding the title even more. And most importantly, it’s expanding multiplayer, which our critics called the game’s strongest element.
Haven’t played the title just yet? Read our review, where our critic said, “Battlefield 6 is a giant leap forward for the franchise, returning it to the peak of online first-person shooters. There was a ton of love and detail put into every aspect of the game, and it has the potential to dethrone Call of Duty as the king of online shooters.”
But our praise for the multiplayer hasn’t accounted for what’s to come. EA and Battlefield Studios have repeatedly shared that the current roadmap for the title is the largest it has ever been for a Battlefield game. Season 1 features three new weapons, a new map, a new close-quarters and high-intensity multiplayer mode called Strikepoint, and much more.
In a press release which also featured information about REDSEC, Vince Zampella, Executive Vice President, said, “We already revealed that this is our most ambitious roadmap in Battlefield history, and today demonstrates our commitment to that… This is part of our promise to deliver a wide variety of quality content on a consistent basis, ensuring you’ll always have something new and unexpected to engage with whenever you jump into the fight.”
How long will Battlefield 6 Season 1 last?

Season 1 will offer three distinct phases of content up through the 2025 holiday season. The first phase is called “Rogue Operations.” Following this release, two more Season 1 content releases will close out the title’s launch year, with “California Resistance” launching on November 18, 2025, and “Winter Offensive” launching on December 9, 2025.
California Resistance includes a new map set in the suburbs of Southern California and a new mode called Sabotage, where players must destroy as many sites as possible before the round ends. Then, the Winter Offensive includes special seasonal-themed content, as you’d expect from any live-service title.
What’s new with Battlefield 6 Season 1?
New Map — Blackwell Fields & Eastwood

Battlefield 6 Season 1 introduces players to the latest large-scale all-out-war experience, set in the arid shrublands of Southern California with Blackwell Fields. But that’s not it, bringing over a bit of REDSEC, Eastwood brings players to the backyards of Southern California, pool and all.
New Mode — Strikepoint
Strikepoint, Battlefield 6 Season 1’s new mode, brings the high-stakes gameplay you can experience in REDSEC’s new Gauntlet mode into the game’s core multiplayer—squad-focused, elimination-focused, Strikepoint is a one-life experience in 4v4 combat. Players in this mode will battle to capture a single capture point where speed is the focus.
Rogue Operations Battle Pass

Like pretty much every live-service game, the launch of the title’s first Season also means the start of a Battle Pass. Battlefield Season 6 Season 1 also marks the release of a “Rogue Operations” themed Battle Pass with 100 tiers, six total paths, and 10 prestige tiers.
In addition to what you can earn, a premium BF Pro tier and premium store content are also available today for those looking to spend real money. Still, it must be noted that Battlefield Studios has assured players that all gameplay-enhancing elements will be free or earnable.
What to expect from Battlefield 6’s post-launch roadmap?
Battlefield Studios has shared that seasonal content will be released “consistently.” New seasons will add new maps, modes, weapons, and more. However, they have not shared any release date news for new seasons.
Battlefield 6 is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via Steam, EA App, Epic Games Store).
