During the Magic Con Atlanta Day 1 preview panel, seven new sets were announced. But the one that stuck out for me, especially after the success of Magic: The Gathering‘s space set, Edge of Eternities, is a Star Trek set expanding the Universes Beyond banner. That’s right, the sci-fi series that has defined the final frontier for generations is coming to Magic, and I can’t help but be excited.

The other sets announced during the Preview Panel were: Lorwyn Eclipsed, a To Be Announced Universes Beyond Set, Secrets of Strixhaven, Marvel Super Heroes, The Hobbi (yes, the video tease was what we thought), and Reality Fracture.

Star Trek Set Magic The Gathering - Gowron

This Universes Beyond set continues the growing relationship between Magic: The Gathering and Paramount. With Avatar: The Last Airbender already on the way, and the Spondge-Bob Secret Lair already under their belt, this is a collaboration that we’re sure to keep growing.

Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming Star Trek set.

What to expect from the Star Trek set in Magic: The Gathering?

Star Trek Set Magic The Gathering - Captain Kirk

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek is set to take players to the final frontier. Gene Roddenberry’s iconic sci-fi classic has a Captain for every generation. A gateway sci-fi series, now, it can be someone’s gateway into Magic.  The Star Trek set will feature characters, stories, and (of course) spaceships from the entire franchise.

This set has something for every Star Trek fan, and now that vehicles can be Commanders, well, Edge of Eternities is making even more sense. As of right now, the art we have seen shows the USS Enterprise, Captain Kirk (the William Shatner one), a Klingon, and Gowron.

The Magic team at Wizards of the Coast has been doing an exciting job adapting different universes to Magic’s mechanics and now that this legacy has been tapped, I’m sure we’ll get the chance to see historic story moments, and the robust line-up of Captains and their crew.

What is the release date for the Star Trek set?

Wizards of the Coast hasn’t shared an explicit release date; however, we do have a November 2026 release window.

Magic Con Atlants runs from September 26, 2025, through September 29, 2025.
