Helluva Boss, the sibling series to the highly acclaimed Hazbin Hotel, is coming to Prime Video. Helluva Boss Season 1 and Season 2 were initially released on YouTube by creator Vivienne Medrano, also known as “VivziePop”. Over the years, the indie adult animated series has become a cult hit amongst fans worldwide for its raunchy comedy with surprisingly emotional storytelling.
Unlike Hazbin Hotel, which is centered on helping residents of hell reform in the hopes of gaining access to Heaven. Helluva Boss centers on the day-to-day chaos of the Immediate Murder Professionals (I.M.P.), a small hitman business run by demons, specifically imps. Blitzo, a former clown turned assassin, saw a potentially lucrative opportunity by starting an assassination firm that took on requests from hell’s residents to kill people in the living world. However, as the series goes on, it is clear that Blitzo also started his business to cultivate the “family” and sense of belonging he has always wanted.
Here is a guide to the key characters for audiences new to Helluva Boss and curious about Blitzo, his crew, and other characters.
Blitzo
Blitzo (pronounced Blitz because the o is silent) is I.M.P.’s loudmouthed, chaotic leader. Blitzo is equal parts hilarious and tragic. He loves being the center of attention, but his brash confidence hides many deep insecurities. Imps like Blitzo are some of the lowest-ranking demons in Hell’s hierarchy. It also does not help that he grew up in a dysfunctional family with a hypercritical father who always made him feel worthless.
Blitzo hates being looked down on because of his status as an imp, which sometimes leads to him projecting his insecurities onto others. This includes his employees and family, as well as his tumultuous relationship and affair with the powerful Goetian demon prince, Stolas.
Blitzo desperately wants validation and to feel like he belongs, which drives both his personal and professional life decisions, like starting an illegal assassination business to kill targets on earth. Granted, as much as Blitzo says he doesn’t care what people think of him, he cares deeply. The audience sees Blitzo go from worse to slightly better throughout the series. Over the course of the show, Blitzo deals with abandonment issues, his self-destructive nature, and a messy history with old friends and family. Despite his flaws, Blitzo manages to change for the better; granted, he still has a lot of self-improvement work to do.
Loona
Loona is a hellhound, I.M.P.’s resident receptionist, and Blitzo’s adopted daughter. Loona possesses a sharp wit, a sarcastic tongue, and a phone addiction. Loona uses sarcasm and aloofness as a shield to hide her own insecurities. Beneath her cynical and rough edges is someone who struggles with making friends, abandonment, and belonging.
The episodes of Helluva Boss focusing on Loona reveal a more vulnerable side to her character, making her one of Helluva Boss’s most relatable and emotionally resonant characters. Blitzo found and adopted Loona, although their father-daughter dynamic was one-sided, as Loona did not initially see Blitzo as a father figure. Over the course of the series, Loona and Blitzo’s relationship has grown, and she even refers to him as dad now.
Stolas
As a Goetian prince, Stolas is one of the most powerful demons in hell. He is well known for his extravagant nature and lovesick obsession with Blitzo. Stolas was born into a regal, but cruel life as a prince. His family lacked any sense of warmth and comfort for most of his life. Stolas also lacked the freedom to make many of his own life decisions, such as who he wanted to marry, which led him to marry his pompous and selfish wife, Stella. Thankfully, one source of joy in his life comes from his daughter, Octavia, whom he loves very deeply.
Initially, in Helluva Boss, Stolas agrees to help provide Blitzo and I.M.P. access to the human world in exchange for occasional casual sex visits. Granted, for Stolas, it is not just about the sex when it comes to Blitzo; he actually cares deeply for the imp and wants to be in a fulfilling relationship with him.
Later on in Helluva Boss, Stolas realizes that his business arrangement with Blitzo has put their relationship in an unfair power dynamic. He tries to correct this so that Blitzo does not feel obligated to be with him, but instead they can both choose to be together as equals.
Stolas’ arc and development deepens throughout the series as he tries to navigate his divorce, remaining present for his daughter Octavia, and his complicated relationship with Blitzo. The latter episodes in Season 2 elevate him to a tragic figure caught between duty, desire, and heartbreak.
Octavia
Octavia is the teenage daughter and heir of Prince Stolas. Octavia constantly struggles with her parents’ toxic marriage and eventual divorce. Despite her parents’ failing marriage, Octavia always had a special bond with her father throughout childhood. Ocatavia is withdrawn and feels alone in a home that lacks the close familial love that others have. Most of all, she is terrified that he father will run away with Blitzo and leave her all alone with her cruel mother. The episodes focusing on Octavia provide some of the most touching parent-child storytelling in the series.
Moxxie
Moxxie is the resident weapons expert and often the voice of reason at I.M.P. Moxxie is bright, anxious, and usually the butt of Blitzo’s jokes. Born into a mafia family, Moxxie’s cruel father forced him to live a life he did not want for himself. After leaving his family, Moxxie eventually met, fell in love with Millie, and joined Blitzo’s hitman agency.
Moxxie typically takes on the role of moral compass for the I.M.P. team and questions whether some assassinations are necessary. Although Moxxie is very capable and the most logical of their group, he is often the butt of Blitzo’s jokes. Over time, Moxxie learns to assert himself more while navigating the absurd dangers of his job. Thankfully, his devoted wife, Millie, values Moxxie for his personality and abilities. Millie often helps anchor Moxxie’s character in the most dire situations. And although his overly cautious nature continuously clashes with Blitzo’s reckless leadership, the two have a certain level of love and respect for each other.
Millie
Millie is the muscle of I.M.P. She is a sweetheart by nature, but can quickly become a ferocious fighter when the job calls for it. Hell hath no fury like Millie regarding her husband, Moxxie. In addition to loving and supporting her husband, Milliehown, who has consistently demonstrated family-centered values throughout Helluva Boss, has also been shown to possess these values, highlighting her roots and loyalty. Although Moxxie and Millie could not be any more different from one another personality-wise, their relationship remains one of the most stable in the series.
Millie is the glue that keeps Moxxie and Blitzo grounded most of the time when they need it. Although she is often quick to take action with force, she is also very emotionally intelligent when the moment calls for it. As much as Millie can sometimes enable Blitzo’s chaotic behavior and decisions, she has shown some restraint when she sees her friends hurting themselves or others.
Verosika Mayday
Verosika is a succubus, a famous pop star in the human world and hell, and one of Blitzo’s many exes. Verosika is glamorous and vindictive by nature. Her initial introduction to the series positioned her as both an adversary for I.M.P. and a reminder of Blitzo’s failed relationships. Versokia hates Blitzo for how he handled their relationship. Verosika occasionally appears in Helluva Boss through seasons one and two, adding some tension to the series while also fleshing out Blitzo’s flaws and mistakes in love and dating.
Striker
Striker is also an imp, introduced as a slick assassin-for-hire. Striker is as charismatic as he is dangerous; he challenges characters like Blitzo and Stolas, which presents a real threat to I.M.P. Striker, like Blitzo, hates being looked down upon for being an imp. However, unlike Blitzo, Striker utilizes his assassin skills to eliminate the nobility, proving himself to be superior. Striker is one of the most formidable antagonists of Helluva Boss. His episode appearances position him as a darker parallel to Blitzo’s ambitions and desire for validation as an imp.
Fizzarolli
Fizzarolli, also known as Fizz, is a popular clown in Hell and has a complicated past with Blitzo. The two imps used to be very close when they were young, but a tragic accident at their circus destroyed their home, Fizz came near death, and their friendship was broken. Initially, his character is introduced as an antagonist who represents Blitzo’s unresolved tension and friendships from his past. However, as Helluva Boss continues, he becomes a well-rounded supporting character.
Miraculously, Fizz survives the circus fire and rebuilds his life out of the ashes. Unfortunately, fame comes with a significant cost for Fizz. Although he loves the limelight and performing for his fans, he suffers from being exploited by his boss, Mammon. Fizz’s mentor-mentee relationship with Mammon hits a significant turning point in the second season, which explores the exploitative side of being a superstar.
Throughout the series, Fizz and Blitzo cross paths and even mend their friendship and become more cordial. Aside from his friendship with Blitzo, Fizz is in a committed relationship with Asmodeus, another influential figure in Hell’s hierarchy. Initially, Fizz and Asmodeus attempt to feign that their relationship is strictly based on lust in public, but behind closed doors, the two genuinely love and respect each other wholeheartedly.
Asmodeus
Asmodeus, known as Ozzie by those close to him, is the Sin of Lust. Asmodeus is one of the characters of Helluva Boss, who represents the upper ranks of Hell’s hierarchy. Although Asmodeus does not play a massive role in the overall series or have a significant character arc, the episodes featuring Asmodeus typically offer a glimpse into the larger social dynamics and politics of Hell.
Additionally, Asmodeus’s relationship with Fizz is parallel to Blitzo and Stolas. Asmodeus and Fizz’s relationship highlights that it is possible to have a genuine and loving relationship with one another despite the vast differences in their backgrounds and status as an imp and a sin. At the same time, Stolas and Blitzo’s relationship suffers because Blitzo’s insecurities and inability to see that Stolas wants to love him as his equal.
Helluva Boss is full of graphic assassinations, hellish hijinks, and characters who will worm their way into your heart. At the center of Helluva Boss Still is a story about connections, family, love, growth, and vulnerability. Helluva Boss characters are designed to be flawed, complex, and relatable to our own experiences.
Helluva Boss comes to Prime Video on September 10, 2025.
