Bandai Namco Entertainment America. announced that Tales of Xillia Remastered, an enhanced version of the fan-favorite action RPG, will launch worldwide on October 31, 2025. The remaster brings a memorable entry in the Tales series to current platforms with improved visuals and new features.

Remasters have become one of the best ways for the current generation of players to experience the past. This is especially important when it comes to understanding the landscapes of different genres, like RPGs. With many Japanese developers and publishers remastering classics, it’s exciting to see Bandai Namco bring Tales of Xillia to a new generation.

What is Tales of Xillia Remastered?

In Tales of Xillia Remastered, players dive into the world of Rieze Maxia, where humans and spirits live in harmony. The peaceful world is threatened when the kingdom of Rashugal begins using a powerful weapon that drains mana.

Players can choose to follow the story of either Milla Maxwell, a mysterious woman accompanied by four spirits, or Jude Mathis, an aspiring medical student. Their destinies intertwine as they embark on a quest to destroy the device, restore balance, and save their world.

Tales of Xillia Remastered includes all downloadable content from the original release, with character costumes, bonus items, and other fan-favorite extras. The remaster also brings several quality-of-life improvements, including:

  • Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System: A real-time combat system that lets you team up with allies to unleash devastating combo attacks.
  • Auto-Save: A new feature that automatically saves your progress.
  • Early Access to the Grade Shop: The ability to access the Grade Shop earlier in the game.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America published a blog post reflecting all of the enhancements and changes made to Tales of Xillia Remastered. Here’s a summary, but if you want to see what each item means, head to the BNEA blog here. 

  • Grade Shop Available During First Playthrough
  • 50% off items in the Grade Shop
  • More than 40 original DLC are available
  • Autosave Function
  • Enemy Encounter Toggle Function
  • An Encounter setting has been added to the Options menu
  • Retry’ Feature for Regular Battles
  • Subtitles Available For Battle Scenes
  • Special dialogue during boss battles and tutorial battles
    • Dialogue during battle results
    • Dialogue during Linked Artes
    • Dialogue during Mystic Artes
  • Dash Toggle Function
  • Destination Icons
  • Added “!” icons for sub-events to the location map and mini map
  • Added display of each item on mini-map and location map
  • Added automatic skipping of events
  • Skippable Cutscenes and Skits
  • Added “NEW!” icons to items and Artes when newly acquired or learned
  • Added item descriptions for Jet Black Feather Trading Post
  • Can move to the top of the Option from any level in the Option
  • Added batch selection of bonus materials
  • Added differential display of status changes when changing equipment
  • Simplified selection of items such as treasure chests
  • Added the ability to switch camera distance on the map
  • Key Binding Customization Features
  • Additional Volume Settings
  • Additional Voice-Over Language Settings
  • Correction of typographical errors and omissions
  • Some expressions were changed from the original work in consideration of ethics

What is the Tales of Xillia Remastered release date?

The Bandai Namco reveal also shared a release date for players to mark on their calendars. Tales of Xillia Remastered will release on October 31, 2025, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
