NEOWIZ and developer Lizard Smoothie revealed that their action roguelite, Shape of Dreams, will arrive on September 11, 2025. The game, which was showcased during Gamescom’s Future Games Show 2025, promises dynamic, skill-based battles in ever-changing dreamlike realms.

Lizard Smoothie was founded in January 2023 by two college students, making Shape of Dreams the studio’s debut title. The studio has received awards from organizations like GIGDC, IndieGo, BIC, and more have recognized the team’s work.

“From the community responses we’ve received throughout development to the upcoming launch of Shape of Dreams, this has been a challenging yet rewarding journey for our team,” Eunsop Shim, co-founder and CEO of Lizard Smoothie, said in a release to media. “NEOWIZ gave us the best platform to refine our experience and make it resonate with audiences globally. We can’t wait to see the different builds and playstyles people try for each character once the game is available on September 11.”

What is Shape of Dreams?

According to the game’s Steam page, Shape of Dreams is a fusion of MOBA-style controls and systems with action roguelike gameplay that tasks players with exploring the dream world, editing their Memories, and creating their own hero in the process.

The story in Shape of Dreams starts when the boundary between the dream world and reality collapsed, allowing passage to an intermediate realm called “The Rapids” through dimensional rifts. With rumors of unknown origin claiming that anything is possible upon reaching the end of the dream world, heroes step into this mysterious realm, each with their own reasons.

Developed by two university students, Shape of Dreams resonated with players during February’s Steam Next Fest, where its demo and prologue received over 1 million downloads. Made to be played solo or up to four players in co-op mode, Shape of Dreams offers eight playable character options to support endless customization and any playstyle. Enjoy 50+ challenges, 100+ essences, and endless build diversity. Oh, and don’t forget the 200+ collectibles you can unlock.

Game Features:

  • Memory Editing: You can edit your Memories to create a unique character by using Memories in combat to defeat enemies. Additionally, you’ll be able to attach mysterious gems called Essence to your Memories to grant special effects and create synergies, effectively working as a skill tree.
  • Procedurally Generated Worlds: The Dream World is a procedurally generated world, where dream dwellers, quests, various events, and hidden secrets await you, and it doesn’t offer the same thing twice.

  • Difficulty Choices: With difficulty selection and permanent upgrade systems in place, you can enjoy everything Shape of Dreams has to offer regardless of your skill level. Still, if you do want a challenge, Shape of Dreams also offers ruthless trials, including Lucid Dreams that let you bend the rules of The Rapids and powerful hidden bosses.
  • Multiplayer (if you want it): While Shape of Dreams offers a complete single-player experience, it also supports up to 4-player co-op multiplayer.
