Publisher Twin Sails Interactive and developer Sparrow Night have shared that News Tower is leaving Early Access and heading for its 1.0 launch. The management sim, a winner at the Dutch Game Awards, puts players in charge of a 1930s Brooklyn newsroom. Your goal is to build a media empire in the heart of New York, and work through different systems, taking a failed business and turning it into a successful one.
What is News Tower?
In News Tower, you start with a failing business and must transform it into a, thriving media powerhouse. Hire the right staff, manage your equipment, and oversee every detail, from deciding which stories to publish to ensuring your employees have enough charcoal to keep the lights on.
The studio has also shared that real-world historical details and events from the 1930s, including Prohibition and the Great Depression, inspire the game’s look and feel, and impact your headlines. The characters and factions are based on real-world figures, adding a satirical twist to the historical setting, while also teaching players about the period.
When does News Tower 1.0 launch?
This newspaper management simulator launches into 1.0 on November 4, 2025 on PC via Steam after a successful early access period.
New Features in 1.0
The full launch of News Tower introduces several new features that expand on the existing management gameplay. Players will have to contend with rivals, shape public opinion, and navigate the treacherous political landscape of the 1930s. You can get a look at the systems below.
- Competitor System: Go head-to-head against rival papers like The Jersey Beacon and The Empire Observer. You must decide whether to expand your territory or directly challenge a rival to seize their readership.
- Perception System: Define your newspaper’s voice. Will you be informational, moderate, or sensational? Your chosen editorial line will impact how readers perceive your paper and can unlock specific ways to increase sales.
- Faction System: Engage with four new factions: the Mafia, the Military, the Mayor, and High Society. Each faction offers quests and agendas, and helping one may make you an enemy of another.
- New Building Towers: Unlock two new building options: the high-rise and the low-rise. The high-rise is a tall, thin building that costs less per floor but requires efficient use of space, while the low-rise is a wider, shorter building that offers more space for your gear at a higher per-floor cost.
- Leaderboards: Compete with other players to earn the top spot on multiple leaderboards and cement your paper’s status as the best in New York City.
- Localizations: The game will be available in multiple new languages, including Spanish, French, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Polish, and Russian.
