SEGA officially announced during the Summer Game Fest 2025 livestream that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will launch digitally and physically on September 25, 2025. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds promises a massive roster of fan-favorite characters from the Sonic universe. This roster will continue to expand post-launch with free updates introducing familiar faces from other SEGA franchises, including Joker and Kasuga Ichiban, alongside guest characters like Hatsune Miku.

What is Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds?

In Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, players will race across land, sea, air, time, and space. A new gameplay mechanic, Travel Rings, will transport characters from the Sonic and SEGA universes into new dimensions, making each race unique.

Players can speed to victory solo or as a team in a variety of offline and online modes, competing against players globally. The game will allow players to build customized machines to match their racing style, unlock gadgets for strategic advantages, and unleash power-up items to secure the win.

Key Features:

  • The new Travel Rings mechanic warps characters into new dimensions, making every race feel unique and allowing players to use unpredictability to their advantage.
  • Features the largest roster in any Sonic Racing game, with 23 characters racing across 24 main tracks and utilizing Travel Rings to transport to 15 different CrossWorlds.
  • Players can equip and combine over 70 gadgets before races, offering different perks to customize gameplay and enhance vehicle and power-up performance.
  • Mix and match vehicle parts, powers, and abilities to create a personalized racing experience tailored to individual playstyles.
  • The fan-favorite flying hoverboards from Sonic Riders return for “extreme fun.”
