Netflix has substantially expanded its international film and series library with Asian, European, Australian, and Arab productions. Still, while the streamer has invested in some content from Latin America, it’s represented primarily by Mexican and Brazilian productions. But that’s changing. Argentine content on Netflix is coming in a big way following the success of the sci-fi television series The Eternaut. Netflix has announced that it is doubling its commitment to Argentine storytelling by announcing two new films starting production in May 2025.

In a press release from Netxli, Francisco Ramos, Vice President of Content for Latin America, said:

“Our commitment to Argentina is unwavering. We are passionate about being part of the audiovisual creation of this incredible country, promoting its cinema both within and beyond its borders. We will continue offering the highest-quality entertainment to our members and showcasing the best of Argentina through its films, which are unique and globally acclaimed. I’m especially proud to strengthen our collaboration with Ricardo Darín, with Kenya Films, and with Juan José Campanella, with whom we are already working on two projects. We hope they find a home at Netflix.”
