FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, the critically acclaimed RPG from legendary game Producer Hironobu Sakaguchi and renowned Composer Nobuo Uematsu, launched earlier this month for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Today, Square Enix launched a demo now available on those same platforms.

The demo allows players to experience the first few hours of the game and test out the unique multi-dimensional battle mechanics while beginning to solve the strange mystery of the world and Leo’s lost memories. Players who try the demo can continue their journey as Leo by carrying over their progress to the full game.

Square Enix also released a new accolades trailer today, showcasing some of the positive reception for the game since it launched. Throughout the trailer, you can get a good look at some cut scenes, gameplay action, and then some. It’s enough to pique curiosity, giving players the chance to see stuff play out before diving into the demo.

What is FANTASIAN Neo Dimension about?

FANTASIAN Neo Dimension

In FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, players assume the role of Leo as he journeys to recover his memories and solve the mystery of a strange mechanical infection destroying his world. Experience an original and modern take on the beloved turn-based battle system with a wealth of unique mechanics and strategic combat that shake up the classic RPG formula. Explore a multi-dimensional universe set against the backdrop of over 150 charming hand-crafted dioramas.

FANTASIAN Neo Dimension brings the acclaimed original RPG story and modern turn-based gameplay of FANTASIAN, initially released for Apple Arcade in 2021, to new platforms with 4K support for current consoles and PC.

The game also introduces brand-new features, including English and Japanese voiceovers, an additional difficulty level and a battle music option called “Collaboration BGM,” which allows players to swap out FANTASIAN Neo Dimension battle tracks with select songs from popular FINAL FANTASY™ game,s including the FINAL FANTASY pixel remaster series (I-VI), FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Endwalker, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Dawntrail, and FINAL FANTASY XVI.

Our thoughts on the game

Still on the fence about jumping into the game? We’ve had a chance to play the game and have our own thoughts. Our critic, playing on the PS5, sang high praises, saying that “FANTASIAN Neo Dimension is a beautiful adventure from some of the best RPG creators of all time, and they are at their best here. An emotional story combined with fun combat mechanics and an incredible atmosphere makes this one of the best RPGs of the year and well worth checking out.”

Playing on the Switch? We got you covered. In early previews, we highlighted that “as a turn-based title, its combat and unique approach to random encounters is what really makes it shine.” The versatility apparent on platforms, at least from what we’ve covered, gives plenty of hope that the demo will be a slam dunk.

If that’s not enough to convince you, check out the accolades trailer below and see what others are saying. Once you are ready to dive into the sweet new world that’s been created, go on over to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam and tackle that demo. You won’t regret it.
