Animal Control and Community star Joel McHale returns to host the 51st Annual Saturn Awards on Sunday, February 4, 2024. The Saturn Awards, presented by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, honor the best in genre entertainment each year.

This year’s show dedicates itself to the memory of actor and former Saturn Awards host Lance Reddick (John Wick) and legendary filmmaker William Friedkin (The Exorcist.) The Special Saturn Awards Honorees will also be presented. This includes Christopher Nolan receiving The Visionary Award from Emily Blunt.

Nominees, released in December, include everything from Barbie to Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Talk to Me to Suzume. The 51st Annual Saturn Awards ceremony celebrating the best in film and television genres will return in Los Angeles, CA. The event takes place February 4, 2024, at the LA Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel. It will exclusively stream LIVE on Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment’s ElectricNOW, produced by Bradley Marcus and Kevin Marcus.

In response to McHale’s hosting, the Academy President Robert Holguin and Saturn producers Bradley and Kevin Marcus commented, saying:

“We are thrilled to have Joel McHale host the Saturn Awards for the second year… With his remarkable talent, dry wit, and acerbic humor, he embodies the spirit of the Saturn Awards tradition as Hollywood’s entertaining and irreverent awards show. The Academy is truly fortunate to have him as the host for this momentous 51st annual celebration.”

What is The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror?

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror is a non-profit organization founded in 1972 by film historian Doctor Donald A. Reed. The Academy is supported by several hundred genre enthusiasts and professionals. These include JJ Abrams, Dean Devlin, Gale Anne Hurd, Guillermo Del Toro, Greg Berlanti, and Kevin Feige. Each has participated in the ongoing efforts of the Academy to promote genre film production and television programming since 1972. President Robert Holguin and Saturn leaders Bradley Marcus and Kevin Marcus currently head the organization.
