To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 10

With Bon and Kahaku leaving to prepare for their next fight against the Nokkers, Fushi was left to train and expand upon his gifts. But with his training seemingly stalled, Fushi takes a trip into town for some supplies and a moment to relax. Instead, he stumbles upon someone who may help him grow in ways he didn’t expect in To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 10 from Drive.

Fushi’s growth throughout To Your Eternity has always largely revolved around his interactions with those close to him. His contact with people has driven him, informed him, and helped him gain a stronger understanding of the world around him and who he is. But while each interaction in his past has drawn Fushi closer to humanity, To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 10 sees Fushi potentially set out on a different course.

As Fushi’s powers expand, we see him begin to change in unexpected ways. While it is his empathy and his ability to feel the pain of others that initially leads him to the revelation that drives this episode, what he learns about himself seems to affect how he interacts with the world. Many of the interpersonal habits he has built over his long years of life are seen rapidly dissolving as Fushi grows into his newly mastered powers. His growth is changing his focus from the details to a larger, broader picture. While the initial impacts of these discoveries on Fushi are mildly worrying, I look forward to seeing how the series will explore them going forward.

While the bulk of To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 10 focuses on Fushi’s evolving powers, it also spends some time with Bon as he travels to Reinril to warn the people of the looming attack by the Nokkers. The exchange Bon has with the city’s leader is an interesting one. Dealing with her guest from behind a curtain, this new personality feels mysterious and left me hoping the show will explore the character further as the battle draws closer.

Speaking of mysteries, the final element of this episode that bears discussion is Fushi’s newest companion. While I won’t go into details to avoid spoilers, she is an interesting addition to the show as she requires a different style of interaction from Fushi than his other connections have needed. By the end of the episode, her presence has already impacted Fushi greatly, and it feels like his new role, where she is concerned, is ripe for more potential growth for the character.

The visuals do a great job of bringing To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 10‘s biggest visual elements to life. The first is how it presents Fushi’s expanding powers. The aspects of how Fushi grows in this episode are visually unsettling. Drive does a great job of making the more unnerving aspects of Fushi’s changes present in these scenes, making the reactions of some of his companions towards them feel wholly justified as the viewer has the same experience.

The second is how it presents Fushi’s new companion. There are a lot of delicate choices it feels like Drive makes in presenting this new character. As she rarely speaks, the show has to make the character extra emotive so the viewer can follow along. But while doing this, they can’t let the character become too expressive, lest she feels out of place in Fushi’s world. I think the series hits this balance perfectly.

To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 10 continues to develop Fushi, his growing powers, and his expanding circle of friends excellently. I hope what the show has been building up for manages to pay off on all the world and character-building this season has done thus far.

To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 10 is streaming now on Crunchyroll.
