Reincarnated as a Sword

Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 6 is perhaps the most well-rounded episode in the series thus far as it manages to impress viewers with the best fight scene adapted so far and garners intrigue with the inclusion of new narrative elements.

The episode picks up where the last one left off with the fight between our favorite duo and their most formidable opponent yet, the greater demon. The fight in this episode is the most engaging, intricate, longest, and most well-produced fight shown yet, as it forces the two protagonists to use their skills and intellect to overcome their opponent rather than just mow them down like another enemy mob. The episode also showcases the dynamic between the protagonists and how well they support each other in combat via their intense struggle with this formidable opponent.

In the same vein, Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 6 also makes it very clear that Fran’s strength is minimal as she’s saved multiple times during the fight and shown to mainly use the skills acquired by the sword to fight the demon. This becomes even more important when you remember her primary goal is to “evolve,” but her progress toward that is greatly minimized due to her reliance on the sword and all its powerful skills. That said, it’s also hard to ignore how, while this episode is meant to showcase how the pair aren’t omnipotent, it somehow still manages to show how the sword is, in fact, still incredibly powerful against all opponents through the events of the episode’s end.

A scene that’s also worth discussing is how Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 6 shows the people in the village Fran has met so far as her primary source of motivation to push on during a pivotal point in the fight. I found this quite strange as it’s displayed many times throughout the series so far that she hasn’t even built any meaningful relationship with most of them save for two good acquaintances. Not only is this odd, but it also really shows the flaws in the storytelling as while it is an overused trope many anime uses, this anime has yet to earn it.

Additionally, Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 6 also goes a little more in-depth with the power system by casually explaining how the level-ups and abilities work through conversations which I always appreciate. Lastly, with a short scene, the episode surprisingly focused a little more on the narrative by explaining more about the world’s politics and telling viewers that not all resources earned from battle belong to the adventurer who earns them. This will undoubtedly stir some friction with adventurers such as Fran, who now has eyes on her after the events of this episode.

Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 6 was a good, well-rounded episode that offered viewers a great, well-animated fight scene, significant character interactions, and thankfully more narrative development, with potentially more in the coming episodes.

Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 6 is streaming now on HIDIVE.
