On this episode of So Here’s What Happened, LaNeysha and Carolyn are joined by comic creator and writer, for an interview with Stephanie Williams. In this interview with Stephanie Williams joins the ladies to chat about her latest work, the highly anticipated comic series, Nubia & The Amazons Issue #1 from DC Comics. On this episode the ladies chat about how Stephanie along with her fellow co-writer Vita Ayala and their creative team use the story to speak on representation, sisterhood, and issues affecting women as well as the history of Nubia and Themyscira.

Nubia & the Amazons is a mini comic series written by Vita Ayala and Stephanie Williams with art from artist Alitha Martinez. The creative team for the series also consists of Becca Carey with lettering, Mark Morales with inks, and Emilio Lopez with coloring. Nubia & The Amazons takes place after the thrilling events of Infinite Frontier, Nubia becomes queen of Themyscira, but the new title also brings challenges.

Now with the unexpected arrival of new Amazons, our hero is forced to reckon with her past and forge a new path forward for her sisters. Little does she know, a great evil grows beneath the island and it’s up to this former guardian of Doom’s Doorway to unite her tribe before paradise is lost forever! This unforgettable miniseries from writers Vita Ayala and Stephanie Williams, along with all-star artist Alitha Martinez (Future State) brings the fan-favorite character back to the DCU for good. After Nubia, the world of the Amazons will never be the same!

Stephanie Williams started creating her own stories using the comic medium in 2019. Her webcomic BUT WHAT IF THOUGH is her version of the Marvel’s “What If” comic series but remixes characters from DC Comics, beloved tv shows, movies, and etc. Wiliams has a very specific brand of comedy and loves putting beloved iconic characters in everyday situations and theorizing how she thinks they would act in those situations.
