INDIE Live Expo Winter 2021 Reveals Persona Composer’s New Game, Award Winners

INDIE Live Expo Winter 2021 (ILE Winter 2021), the digital showcase series which has highlighted more than 1300 indie titles across four shows, featured more than 500 indie games during the showcase on Saturday, Nov. 6. ILE Winter 2021 revealed new games such as the upcoming title from Persona composer Shoji Meguro, Guns Undarkness.

INDIE Live Premieres during the show included the reveal of Path of the Abyss from Suzuki Suzuzou, the 2022 release window news for Turbo Overkill from publisher Apogee Entertainment, the announcement of the DLC, and pre-orders opening for DEEEER Simulator: Your Average Everyday Deer Game from publisher PLAYISM, and more. Surprise releases included the Early Access launch of rhythm game Sixtar Gate: STARTRAIL, side-scrolling action game LIBLADE, and a demo for COGEN: Sword of Rewind.

Shoji Meguro, the composer of the Persona series, revealed his first title as an independent developer, Guns Undarkness, a stealth RPG which he designed, developed, and composed. Meguro also provided an exclusive new musical composition for the INDIE Waves segment.

The winners of the 2nd annual INDIE Live Expo Awards were revealed, with Road 96 earning the Grand Prize and Theme of the Year Award based on votes from fans and a panel of judges from across the gaming media. Additional winners included Among Us for Most Stream-Friendly Game Award, Chicory: A Colorful Tale for Best Characters; Death’s Door for Best “Game Feel” Award; Before Your Eyes for the Rules of Play Award; and 文字遊戯 (Word Game) from Taipei-based Team9 for the Local Cultural Representation Award.

INDIE Live Expo will return in mid-2022 for its fifth event, featuring the next wave of exciting reveals of upcoming games, new information on previously-announced titles, and updates to noteworthy games available now, and more. INDIE Live Expo Winter 2021’s sponsors included Cygames, Playstation, 505 Games, Freedom Games, Phoenixx, Kodansha, Hispergames, Inti Creates, Gemdrop Studios, and Why So Serious.

“We are immensely grateful of our sponsors and partners who helped provide the support necessary to make INDIE Live Expo a reality,” said Ryuta Konuma, Founder, Ryu’s Office. “The games we have had the privilege to introduce are a true testament to what this community can achieve, and your incredible dedication is our main drive to keep doing what we do. We plan on resting for a bit after this show, but then it’s on to INDIE Live Expo 2022!”
