Let’s Make a Mug Too Episode 3 - "Because We’re Childhood Friends...Right?”

Last time in Pottery Club, Himeno became an official member of the Pottery Club. Now it’s May, and summer is in full swing, and Himeno’s crafting as much as she can! Time to see what the Pottery Club is up to in this episode. Let’s Make a Mug Episode 3, “Because We’re Childhood Friends…Right?” opens with Himeno’s insight into what everyone’s been up to. Himeno herself has been playing with clay a lot and is downright in love with it. She’s also learned how to knead the clay to balance its texture and has been steadily growing more comfortable with working the pottery wheel. Himeno’s clearly become quite infatuated with pottery, and honestly? It’s lovely to see.

However, Himeno isn’t the star of Let’s Make a Mug Episode 3. This time, Touko and Mika are at odds, especially when Mika starts getting lazy in the club. Rather than throwing clay, Mika’s relaxing with magazines, garage kits, and everything that’s definitely not pottery. Of course, that irritates Touko, the club leader, who’s quite serious about crafting. In fact, Himeno even comments on her skill, which is definitely a mark of how much Touko invests herself in pottery.

This friction between the girls ultimately leads to Touko and Mika having a disagreement in the club room when Mika barges in and immediately starts fooling around. The cacophony of sound leads to Touko yelling at her friend. Mika rushes out, clearly upset, which leaves Touko to think about her actions. Of course, there’s a reason that Touko gets irritated and yells at Mika, which is really what Let’s Make a Mug Episode 3 is about.

In the live-action portion of Let’s Make a Mug Episode 3, we’re back with the four main voice actors for this series. This time, they’re making accessories from tiles, which are a Tajimi specialty. Just like the previous episode, it’s quite soothing seeing the voice actors hang out and get hands-on with some Tajimi crafts. The voice actors also visit a restaurant and have some curry, just like in Let’s Make a Mug Episode 3.

Of course, this live-action segment is, first and foremost, solid encouragement for viewers to ultimately visit Tajimi, but it’s also incredibly soothing. In a time where going outside is still quite hard, seeing the voice actors spend time crafting brings a little peace of mind.

Episode 3 is yet another excellent episode. It’s amazing how much gets stuffed into each 14-minute episode. It’s also nice to spend time with the voice actors, who are all incredibly charming. I really like these segments because it’s also nice to learn about a different part of Japan that’s explicitly not Tokyo. In fact, Tajimi might be one of my new favorite locales! In the end, Let’s Make a Mug Episode 3 is super charming. I truly find myself looking forward to each bite-sized episode weekly, and I hope you do too.

Let’s Make a Mug Too is now streaming on Crunchyroll.
