Square Enix is bringing the beloved Dragon Quest series to mobile devices with its newest title, Dragon Quest Smash/Grow. The new roguelite RPG is set to launch in 2026, but players can get an early taste of the action by signing up for the upcoming closed beta test.

The iconic RPG series created by Yuji Horii was released in 1986 and is undergoing a renaissance with the launch of the 2D-HD remakes. The franchise is celebrating its 38th anniversary this year, making it the longest-running Japanese RPG series in history.

DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow delivers a fresh and exhilarating experience, blending the classic charm of the series with modern roguelite elements. Players smash through waves of monsters, growing stronger with each defeated foe. The combat culminates in the series’ iconic Coup de Grâce attacks, which unleash devastating damage to finish off enemies.

The roguelite design ensures no two quests are the same. Players must adapt their strategy on the fly by choosing from a variety of random Blessings that enhance their character’s growth and battle capabilities.

The announcement also came with a new teaser trailer, giving fans a first look at the game’s unique mix of fast-paced combat and signature Dragon Quest style.
