Co-developers Terrible Posture Games and Nerd Ninjas, along with publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment America, have just released a brand-new Battle Train DLC. This new expansion, “Revenge of the Puffin!,” introduces a new Champion, new challenges, and a fresh narrative.
In our review of the game we said, “Battle Train has the opportunity to become an instant classic with its easy to learn, difficult to master gameplay. The characters, story, and the humor in general all ease the sting of defeat, but they also ensure that your victories will feel triumphant when you eventually succeed.”
What to expect in the new Battle Train DLC, Revenge of the Puffin!
The star of this new DLC is Ludwig the Buffin, a brand-new Champion with a beak for vengeance and feathers of fury. This addition brings a fresh dynamic to the chaotic, explosive game show. Players will guide Ludwig through a new, icy battlefield and face off against new opponents.
- New Story Arc: A fully voiced and animated campaign delves into the mysterious origins of the game’s iconic villain, Aalvado.
- Non-Roguelite Campaign: This new story mode features over 27 handcrafted puzzles and challenges designed to test your track-laying skills.
- New Content: The DLC adds a ton of new content, including cards, train parts, ornaments, hats, and stickers.
- New Playable Characters: Players can now take control of some of the game’s most beloved characters in special combat scenarios.
In addition to the premium content in “Revenge of the Puffin!,” all players can now enjoy a free update to the base game. This update introduces Endless Mode, a new game mode that allows players to continue a single run for an indefinite amount of time—or until they meet a glorious, fiery end.
What is BattleTrain?
Battle Train is set against a backdrop of the world’s most exciting game show of the same name. Here, players take on the role of contestants to engage in train combat against Rival Champions. By collecting and playing cards, contestants build tracks to unlock resources, protect their own bases, and attack enemy structures. Players must outfit a powerful locomotive, craft a strategic deck, and use all their skills to out-blast opponents in a battle to become the Supreme President Conductor.
A unique take on deck building, tracks are played on the grid using cards, each with a resource cost. Connect a track to an enemy base to send a locomotive chock-full of explosives on a one-way ticket to the enemy. And to win? Well, you’ll have to destroy the rival champion’s bases first to win the round, earning new deck cards, currency for customization, train upgrades, and more.
Battle Train is available now on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
