No Longer Allowed In Another World Episode 2, “Shall I Tell You How It Feels to Sleep in a Coffin?” picked up right where we left Osamu and his two female party members, Annette and Tama. We see them dragging Osamu in the coffin he put himself in to take a nap before getting to where they needed to go. That is his traveling wagon/bed now, I guess! Tama screamed at Osamu but was met with no response.

After the opening credits, Osamu wakes up from his coffin beauty nap to find a stunningly beautiful town—with beaming sun rays from the sunset. Here, we are introduced to the town of Roth. Many onlookers whisper whether a man just woke up from a coffin while Osamu and his band head to Castle Roth to speak with the king.

At the castle, they immediately meet Thomas, King of Roth, and his daughter Princess Charlotte. They are met with great hospitality, offering the hero’s party some lodging in the castle. Some miscommunication occurs that could have ended badly, but it is saved by Annette talking about the beautiful Princess Charlotte.

The king gets an idea for Osamu and his crew to help choose who Princess Charlotte will marry. King Thomas presents two choices: Gomez, the valiant warrior, and Otto, the wandering minstrel of love. Gomez looked like an Elden Ring character who was all armoured up and had no face showing. Think Psyger-0 in Shangri-La Frontier. Otto looked like a sleazier, slightly older-looking resemblance to Armin from Attack on Titan—with a Robin Hood-esque getup.

King Thomas hints there is an issue with more monster activity growing in the region and the Wrathful Dark Lord approaching. He explains that she has to marry so the new king can command the army to deal with the monster attacks—pretty misogynistic, I know. Then, he asks who to choose, and a small Pokémon-like menu pops up on the screen—offering a video game choice between Gomez and Otto. I’m digging these video game art choices, despite Osamu not knowing what a video game is.

Funnily enough, a third option appears when the camera pans back to Osamu. The third choice reads, “How should I know?” Osamu finally puts away the sleeping pills he keeps munching on, and walks out explaining how he cannot choose something like that—especially since he’s someone who doesn’t want to be alive in either of the worlds he’s been a part of.

The next scene skips to Osamu waking up at night and Annette asks him what Sachaan means to Osamu. Before he can answer, a long cat tail pops out from under Osamu’s bedsheets. Annette flips the sheets to find Tama sleeping on Osamu’s thighs. While the two females fight about Tama sleeping on Osamu, Osamu steps out into the moonlight for a walk around the castle.

He eventually finds Princess Charlotte, who’s still thinking about her decision as she stares at the shimmering moonlight waters. Osamu makes another cynical comment here, “It’s so beautiful I can drown myself in it.” Princess Charlotte is shocked but continues to explain what both men mean to her.

Osamu tells her how she’s such a great kid to her family, versus how he has inconvenienced his family so much with his suicide attempts. Ultimately, he states that he has not let anyone else dictate his life. We see that this really resonates with Princess Charlotte as her eyes widen with astonishment. He leaves her with the idea, “You should decide for yourself what you will do.” Osamu is such a wise guy for someone trying to kill himself all the time.

The next day kicks off with King Thomas announcing that Princess Charlotte will now announce her decision. With much suspense and slow-walking steps, she says, “I shall commit double suicide with this man,” while holding Osamu’s hand. Everyone is shocked, so much so that Annette passes out while mouthing, “There is no god!”

Princess Charlotte explains how she doesn’t want either of the men—really driving the point that Gomez stinks (yuck!)! But she continues to land her point to her father that he never asked her what she wanted. As a sort-of twist to No Longer Allowed In Another World Episode 2, Gomez gets pissed about the smell comment—only to bust out of his armour and reveal that Gomez was not a human all along! It was a cheeky twist but definitely, something I had in the back of my mind.

Charlotte becomes the new queen, without a husband (pretty progressive!). She is shown to be commanding her army to deal with the new monster threat, as it transitions to Osamu back in his nap coffin being dragged by his crew leaving the town. Osamu’s last line for No Longer Allowed In Another World Episode 2, “I guess women who can stand up on their own are beautiful too.”

I’m still wondering where this show is going, or where it will end up. I think it will end up with Osamu appreciating the extra time he had in this world but will ultimately choose to still end his life when he meets back up with Sachaan. I think the message of the journey is better than the destination, which is something this show could drive home in a weird way. So far, it seems like Osamu will be helping people in his philosophical ways. Again, this is still leaning towards the harem-heavy aspects—but maybe it’s too early to call. No Longer Allowed In Another World Episode 2 had a fairly interesting issue to grapple with, but the twists weren’t anything to gawk at.
