Demon Slayer Hashira names — But Why Tho

Tanjiro may be the focus of Demon Skayer, but the hashira have so much to give in terms of storytelling. Each season of Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba has added new Hashira for you to learn by name and by style. With Last season’s Mugen Train Arc and Entertainment District Arc brought Rengoku, the flame hashira, and Tengen Uzui, the sound hashira. Now, with Demon Slayer Season 3’s Swordsmith Village, two more Hashira have come into focus: Mitsuri Kanroji and Muichiro Tokito. While there is a long list of Demon Slayer Hashira names to learn for the whole series, especially if you include background characters and not just the ones we get to learn a lot about, this season’s first arc really just has Kanroji and Tokito. Read on to find out everything you need to know about the Demon Slayer Hashira names you’re going to hear about all season.

Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira

Demon Slayer Hashira names — But Why Tho (2)

The current Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroki is a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. Her cute and sexy aesthetic often leaves readers and enemies to discount her, the former because of fan service and the latter because of assumed skill. But the truth is, Kanroji is a lot more than the boob window that Koyoharu Gotouge illustrated her with. Her dedication to the feminine doesn’t keep her from being a force to be reckoned with when she unsheathes her Nichirin Sword. A blade that works like a whip, Kanroki uses the Love Breathing technique which she developed herself after learning Flame Breathing as Rengoku‘s Tsuguko.

The ability to create her own technique has led her to become the most skilled swordswoman of the entire Demon Slayer Corps. While other Demon Slayer Hashira have names that may immediately bring intimidation because of their outward appearance, Kanroji’s ability doesn’t just keep her alive when fighting Upper Rank demons but keeps her on top. From her hair to her sword, pink is her signature, and it’s a fantastic storytelling element that affirms that strength doesn’t always come by bending to gender expectations. Instead, her bubbly personality and her signature Love Breathing are why she’s such a strong Hashira.

Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira

The next of the Demon Slayer Hashira names to get to know for the Swordsmith Village Arc and beyond is Muichiro Tokito, the current Mist Hashira. A descendant of Upper Rank One Kokushibo, Tokito is only 14 years old. With mint green as his signature color, Tokito is spacey and wanders off, seemingly in his own world. To the world, his light attitude reads as apathetic but the truth is, that demeanor is perfectly curated so that his arrogance and animosity to people around him don’t come through.

A child prodigy, Tokito is skilled well beyond others in the Demon Slayer Corps ranks. While Kanroji’s skill and progression through the ranks were quick, Tokito’s was quicker, completing his ascension to Hashira in just two months. This means his odds against the Upper Rank demons this season will be not only flashy but single-handed. Using Mist Breathing techniques which he learned from a cultivator, Tokito is his generation’s most skilled user of the technique. An expert in misdirection, from his clothing to his attitude, everything about Tokito is to misdirect his opponents and give him the upper hand in the Mist. With the words “Destroy Demons” etched on his katana, Tokito is a force to be reckoned with.

There are only two of the hashira that we’ve met and the future of Demon Slayer have so many more. The weather hashira, stone hashira, wind hashira, and more are waiting for audiences as the show goes on.

Demon Slayer Season 3 — “The Swordsmith Village Arc” airs every Sunday at 1:45 pm ET exclusively on Crunchyroll.
