Hitman 3 will feature a new location, Chongqing, taking Agent 47 to the rainy, neon-lit streets of a Chinese transportation hub. Chongqing is packed full of shops and food stands crammed into tight streets and has plenty of secrets to discover off the beaten path. Hitman 3 is an action stealth game developed by IO Interactive. It’s the third entry in the series, wrapping up the World of Assassination trilogy that began with Hitman and Hitman 2.
The location of Chongqing showcases improvements and refinements coming to the upcoming game. Powered by IO Interactive’s Glacier engine, Hitman 3 will look, sound, and play better than ever with improvements to lighting, reflections, animations, and AI.
Chongqing also features full water effects, including detailed raindrops that soak Agent 47’s clothes. The goal of these improvements is to add to the immersion of the game. Additionally, on next-gen consoles, Hitman 3 will run in 4K resolution at 60 FPS with HDR support. The latest trailer, which you can find below this article, showcases Chongqing and smooth, new gameplay moments, all of which demonstrate the refinements to animation and AI. Plus, IO Interactive’s Glacier crowd technology will allow up to 300 NPCs in a location at once.
In the game, players can import locations from the previous games in the trilogy as well, potentially creating 20+ locations within the game. All of the improvements to rendering, animation, and AI introduced in the game can be enjoyed across all three games, making the latest installment the best place to play the entire World of Assassination trilogy.
Hitman 3 launches on January 20, 2021, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. It will also be available on Nintendo Switch via cloud streaming technology.
