Star Citizen is hosting a “Free Fly” event for new players until September 23 in recognition of the second annual Ship Showdown event. New players will be able to join the universe of Star Citizen and test pilot 16 of the community’s favorite ships free of charge.
Star Citizen combines classic space sim gameplay with boundary-pushing visuals in a massively multiplayer setting with unprecedented fidelity. Live how you want to live: shift from cargo hauler to an outlaw, an explorer or any other role, all whenever you want. Play across multiple planets and moons, including vast cities and underground caverns, all created with a unique combination of procedural planet technology and complementary hand-crafted design.
During the Ship Showdown Free Fly celebration, new players can also look forward to special discounts on starter ship packs and a limited-time referral bonus that grants a P-52 Merlin to players who refer a friend to Star Citizen. Boasting a centerline Gatling cannon and a Lightning Power engine, the Merlin is a maneuverable ship that packs a surprising punch and is ideal for racing, local reconnaissance, and fast combat.
New pilots ready to step into the cockpit for the Free Fly event can head to the Ship Showdown Free Fly page on the official website.
Plus, fans can expect more news and updates as community voting continues for Ship Showdown event. Out of 80+ flyable ships in-game, the Star Citizen community has already chosen their top 16, but the voting continues for the next two weeks to determine the absolute best ship in the game. The last ship standing is crowned the ultimate Ship Showdown Champion.
The Final Four ships in the tournament, and the eventual Champion, will all receive in-game prizes for their players later in the year. For more information on the Ship Showdown community celebration, visit the official event hub.
