Facebook Gaming and Greenlit Content announced the #PlayApartTogether streaming event on Friday morning, which will benefit the fight against those affected by COVID-19.
#PlayApartTogether, powered by State Farm and Alienware, is part of the World Health Organization’s movement. UMG will be providing production support for the tournament. Joining forces with pro-athletes and celebrities, as well as players at home, all efforts will go towards raising money and awareness for COVID-19 relief.
The season will kick off on April 17 at 8 pm EST and run to 11 pm EST and will be streamed exclusively on Facebook Gaming. Each weekly tournament will award $25,000 USD to a charity chosen by the winning athlete to support ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts. Facebook Gaming’s charity live streaming tools will also be enabled for viewers to support the UNF/WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund Facebook Fundraiser.
Tournaments will happen weekly on Thursday nights going forward and bring together players from the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA, and Tennis to play in online games. The games include Fortnite, Rocket League, NBA 2K20, and FIFA 20, among others.
Facebook Gaming’s newly-launched tournaments feature will accompany each livestream, letting fans track participants, brackets, and standings all in one spot.
The following celebrities will join the first tournament on April 17:
- Andre Drummond, Dwight Howard, and JaVale McGee from the NBA.
- Justin Herbert, Christian McCaffrey, Joe Burrow, and Jarvis Landry from the NFL.
- Ron Killings, aka “The Truth,” from WWE Superstar.
- Alex Bregman and Lance McCullers from the MLB.
- Bryson DeChambeau from PGA Stars.

The #PlayApartTogether Tournament is part of the broader gaming industry’s ongoing support for the World Health Organization’s Play Apart Together initiative, aimed at helping people stay home, stay connected, and stay informed through gaming. Each week, new athletes, celebrities, and games will join the cause to provide compelling content featuring familiar names and games for folks to enjoy while staying home.
