Kill Whitey Donovan reaches its penultimate issue with Kill Whitey Donovan #4, out this Wednesday, as anti-heroines Anna and Hattie arrive on the doorstep of Atlanta, where target Jim “Whitey” Donovan awaits. The historical thriller from writer Sydney Duncan, artist Natalie Barahona, and letterer Troy Peteri has followed the brutal odyssey of the fled debutante and runaway slave as they plot revenge on Donovan, responsible for the death of Anna’s sister and Hattie’ enslavement.
But before they can enact lethal justice, the pair crosses paths with Oracle Jones, an Underground Railroad conductor who throws Hattie’s world into upheaval. Amid this chaos, plantation muscle Tyson continues his pursuit, leading to a violent showdown.
“Kill Whitey Donovan #4 is about expanding the story’s universe and, in particular, Hattie’s journey, while accelerating the narrative toward its conclusion. We wanted it to be in motion and chaotic with new revelations offered by the mysterious Oracle Jones,” Duncan explains.
“Hattie’s moment of clarity lies at the heart of this issue, where the path to her mother becomes crystal clear. Anna, on the other hand, is less certain—the trauma of her younger years weighing in her mind. She’s constantly in doubt, conflicted by the lessons she’s been taught. Does she have what it takes to do the job? But with Tyson closer than ever, they’ll have to escape his grasp if they’ll ever get to Atlanta and kill Whitey Donovan.”
Hideout Pictures is currently developing Kill Whitey Donovan as a feature film, with Sigrid Gilmer (TNT’s Claws, Netflix’s Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events) writing the script and overseeing the adaptation. The issue is out this Wednesday, March 4, 2020, in comic book stores everywhere and online through ComiXology using our affiliate link.
